Fact Check: There WERE American Flags At August 6, 2024, Harris-Walz Rally in Philadelphia Flags In Sight

Is it true that there was "not an American flag in sight" at a Philadelphia rally with Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on August 6, 2024, as a post on X stated? No, that's not true: A Lead Stories journalist covered the rally and saw flags first-hand, and American flags were also seen in a video of the event posted to YouTube and images Harris shared on X. The photo in the post appeared cropped so that only a small portion of the rally scene was shown, with no flags visible.

The claim appeared in a post to X on August 6, 2024 (archived here), with a caption that read:

Not an American flag in sight

This is how the post appeared at the time of writing:

The image above was captured during a rally with Harris and Walz in Philadelphia on August 6, 2024. Harris shared photos (archived here) of the rally to her X profile the following day, showing her and running mate Walz wearing the same outfits as those shown in the post. Those photos also showed (archived here) the American flag in the background, such as below for example:

Lead Stories covered the rally, and a staff member captured the photographs below, which clearly show the American flag was present:

A video of the Philadelphia rally was posted to YouTube by the Harris campaign on August 6, 2024, which similarly showed there were American flags hung throughout the event:

Lead Stories has debunked other claims related to the 2024 presidential election, which can be read here.
