Fact Check: DeSantis Did NOT Block Dominion Voting Systems In Florida; It Will Operate In 18 Counties In 2024 Fla. OK

Did Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis say Dominion Voting Systems will not operate in the state? No, that's not true: Dominion is one of two certified election systems in the state, with 18 of Florida's 67 counties using it in 2024, according to the Florida Division of Elections website. There has been no verified statement or policy announcement from the governor saying Dominion will not operate in the state.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X, formerly Twitter, on October 21, 2024. The post's caption said:

🚨BREAKING: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says Dominion voting systems will NOT operate in the state of Florida. Repost👍

The post provided no evidence to support its assertion that DeSantis will keep Dominion Voting Systems from operating in the state.

Dominion Voting Systems

In an October 22, 2024, email, a Dominion spokesperson provided this response when asked about the social media claim. The statement said:

Dominion systems are being used by voters across the State of Florida for the November 2024 election.

Dominion also said it had received no word from the governor that its voting systems "will NOT operate in the state of Florida."

Florida Division of Elections

The Florida Division of Elections website (archived here) says Dominion is one of two election systems being used in the state. A map of Florida (below) shows Dominion will be used in 18 of the state's 67 counties:
