Fact Check: Image Does NOT Show Tunnel In Sean 'Diddy' Combs' LA Mansion -- It's Grand Canyon Caverns Unrelated Pic

Does a photo show a tunnel in Sean "Diddy" Combs' Los Angeles home? No, that's not true: The image actually shows the Grand Canyon Caverns in Arizona. The photo also significantly predates the 2024 allegations and legal actions against Combs.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X on September 26, 2024. The post featured an image of Combs and an image of what looked like a tunnel or grotto. The caption read:

A tunnel was also found in Diddy's home.

According to the Lanacion website, the interior has a private theater with capacity for 35 people, a fully equipped gym and a wine room. The most curious thing about the property is an underwater tunnel connected to a grotto inside the luxurious mansion.

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

Lead Stories performed a reverse image search of the "tunnel" image in the post making the claim on Yandex (archived here). We clicked on one of the matching results, which led us to a Pinterest pin that led to an article using the image.

The article credited the image to this Flickr post, with the image uploaded on September 26, 2010. The image on Flickr was captioned "Grand Canyon Caverns on Route 66." The caverns are located in Arizona.

The "Lanacion" referred to in the post making the claim is actually La Nacion, an Argentinian website. Lead Stories searched for the article referred to in the post and found it. The March 26, 2024, article was titled (translated using Google Translate) "A grotto and an underwater tunnel: this is Sean 'Diddy' Combs' mansion in Los Angeles that the police raided." The website did not cite any sources for the information about a purported "grotto and underwater tunnel," nor did it include photos of such.
