Did The New York Times publish an opinion article titled, "The Glorification of Luigi Mangione Is Inherently Anti-Israeli"? No, that's not true: A representative of The New York Times told Lead Stories that the organization "did not publish" such a headline. An image on social media showing the "Anti-Israeli" headline appeared to be digitally manipulated, as the original headline by The New York Times read, "What the Glorification of Luigi Mangione Reveals About America."
The claim appeared in a post on X (archived here) on December 12, 2024. It included an image that looked like a column by The New York Times titled, "Why the Glorification of Luigi Mangione Is Inherently Anti-Israeli."
The caption read:
Ok now you know this dudes innocent #LuigiMangione
This is how the post looked on X at the time of writing:

Lead Stories reached out to The New York Times to verify the claim. Brian Latu, manager of corporate communications at The New York Times, responded to Lead Stories in a December 13, 2024, email, writing:
The New York Times did not publish this article or headline. You can see the original Opinion piece here.
Latu sent our newsroom a link (archived here) to the original article by The New York Times. Its headline read:
What the Glorification of Luigi Mangione Reveals About America
