Fact Check: AI Taylor Swift Breaks Up With Travis Kelce In Deepfake Video -- Didn't Actually Say She Only Dates Winners AI Breakup Vid

Is a video in which pop star Taylor Swift announces a breakup with athlete Travis Kelce and where she says she's looking to date a basketball player real? No, that's not true: The video in which Swift appears to say "I don't date losers, I only date winners" originated on a YouTube channel specializing in AI deepfakes. An online detection tool confirmed the audio track of the video was made using AI

The video (archived here) was originally published on YouTube on February 19, 2025 on a channel named "DangerousAI" under the title "Taylor Swift Announces Breakup with Travis Kelce". The description read:

In the video, AI Taylor Swift can be heard saying:

I'm announcing that me and Travis have broken up after an amazing one and a half year. It was an amazing time for both of us but after the Super Bowl it put a sour taste in my mouth.

All the fans were hating on me and Travis didn't protect me in his postgame interview and also I don't date losers I only date winners.

So after I saw Jaden Hurts and his cute dimples and smile I had to cut my ties with Travis. Too bad Jaden is already taken or else he would have been my next target.

Honestly I don't think I'll ever date a football player ever again: the fans are too crazy and they're all haters.

This hasn't been a good start to the year for me: my ex-boyfriend's team got absolutely embarrassed at the Super Bowl and I didn't win any awards at the Grammys.

Honestly I might date a basketball player next. I don't know who the best team there is but I'll find out shortly. Like I said I only date winners.

I'm going to go ask Kendall Jenner about the NBA because she's basically the mascot for that League. She can literally build her own starting five with all the guys she's dated.

The YouTube channel "DangerousAI" (archived here) features an explicit notice in its bio that says it publishes "✅ AI Parody Content "

Lead Stories ran the video through the AI detection tool at hivemoderation.com. The tool gave the video an aggregate score of 99.9, concluding it was "likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content" in the audio:

The source of the video is probably a mirror-image clip from a interview Taylor Swift did that was published by Variety in December of 2022 as the hairstyle, earrings and makeup seem to match:
