Will the Philadelphia Eagles Visit the White House in 2025? What We Know So Far What We Know

Do the Super Bowl champion Philadephia Eagles intend to take part in a customary White House visit in 2025? The Trump administration indicated to Lead Stories that no invite had been sent to the team so far, but as of this writing, the franchise had not yet made any on-the-record statement. Here's what we know so far about rumors surrounding the would-be visit.

The speculation began to circulate three days before the Philadelphia Eagles became the 2025 Super Bowl champion (archived here).

On February 6, 2025, the U.S. Sun published an article (archived here) that opened:

THE Philadelphia Eagles plan to snub an invitation to the White House if they win the Super Bowl, The U.S. Sun has learned.

A source at the Eagles, who spoke anonymously, stressed that conversations about refusing a visit with President Donald Trump after beating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 have already occurred.

The article did not cite any named sources or include a comment from the White House.

In 2018, when the Eagles won the first Super Bowl (archived here), the first administration of President Donald Trump canceled the visit. The president's statement (archived here) issued on June 4 of that year read, "They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country."

The Eagles' statement (archived here) issued on the same day discussed "thrilling" celebrations of the victory but did not mention Trump or that year's canceled visit to the White House.

On February 23, 2025, the claim about the supposed rejection of the White House invitation resurfaced on X in a post (archived here) that read:

According to "a well-placed insider," discussions between #Eagles players and their front office resulted in a "massive no" when asked if they would accept an invitation to the White House to honor their Super Bowl Victory, per @TheSun.

On February 24, 2025, Clay Travis, sports journalist and founder of OutKick (archived here), wrote on X (archived here):

White House source: the Philadelphia Eagles have not rejected a White House invite. The reports that have gone viral on social media are fake news. The White House has not even sent the official invite to the Eagles yet.

When Lead Stories contacted the White House via email on February 25, 2025, asking to clarify whether an invitation had been sent, a spokesperson replied with a link to Travis' post (archived here) without adding additional comments.

On February 24, 2025, ESPN contributor Adam Schefter cited unnamed "Eagles sources" in an X post (archived here), reporting that the team "looks forward to receiving its invitation."

Lead Stories reached out to the Eagles. If we receive an on-the-record response clarifying whether they have received a White House invite, and whether they intended to accept, we will update this article accordingly.
