Fact Check: FAKE Trump Post Calls Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek 'Tampon Tina' Fake Post

Did President Donald Trump refer to Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek as "Tampon Tina" in a post on Truth Social? No, that's not true: Images of such a post circulating on social media appear to have been falsified, as indicated by the type of font and writing styles that differ from Trump's authentic posts. The post was not present on Trump's Truth Social account, and Google hadn't indexed such a post by Trump at the time of this writing.

An example of the image appeared in a post on X (archived here) published on February 24, 2025. The text in the image read:

Today I met with the Governors of our great states, our beautiful states. And I won most of them, you know, I won all seven swing states. But I didn't win Oregon, I don't think they like me. We got a little problem there, Oregon. Their Governor, you know they have a Governor, she's even worse than Maine, if you can believe that. So sad. She's worse than Maine and even though it's a pretty liberal state, they have some good people there, a lot of good people, and we love our good people, we love them. And they call her Tampon Tina, because, can you believe this, she put tampons in the boys' bathrooms. Nobody's ever seen anything like it. It's crazy. Tampons in the boys' bathrooms. But we're gonna get'em out, we're gonna get'em out, out of the boys' bathrooms and we're gonna make Oregon great again.

There is no record of Trump sharing this post to Truth Social as of February 25, 2025. Plus, there are several indications that it is fake.

One indication that this post is fake is its use of double spacing at the beginning of each sentence and after each period. In authentic posts shared by Trump, examples of which can be seen here and here, Trump does not use double spacing. Other indications that the post is fake include the font type and stroke.

Examples of Trump's authentic posts are shown below in the right two images, compared with the fake Trump post on the left:

The post to X came after Trump met with the Governors Working Session on February 21, 2025.

"Tampon Tina" is a play on "Tampon Tim," a nickname given to former Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz after the Minnesota governor signed a law requiring public schools to provide menstrual products, including tampons, to students in 4th through 12th grades.
