Fact Check: FAKE Truth Social Screenshot Shows Trump Announcing End Of Dual Citizenship, Denaturalization And Deportation Of 'Traitors' Fake Post

Did President Trump post a message to Truth Social about denaturalizing and deporting dual citizens as "traitors" under the espionage act? No, that's not true: A viral image purporting to be a screenshot of such a post was fabricated. The post did not appear on Trump's account.

An example of the image appeared in a post on X (archived here) published on April 1, 2025 with a comment that read:

So...Elon's being deported, when?

This is what the image looked like:

The text included in the fake screenshot read:

STARTING ON MONDAY, I AM ENDING DUAL CITIZENSHIP UNDER THE ESPIONAGE ACT AND ALL THESE TRAITORS WILL BE 'DENATURALIZED AND DEPORTED' TO THE COUNTRY THEY CAME FROM. NO EXCEPTIONS !!!!! AMERICA IS FOR AMERICANS, NOT ALL THESE FOREIGNERS WHO HATE OUR GREAT COUNTRY AND DON'T EVEN PAY TAXES.

Lead Stories manually reviewed Trump's Truth Social account for posts dated March 20, 2025 that contained the phrase "I AM ENDING DUAL CITIZENSHIP UNDER THE ESPIONAGE ACT" and did not find any matching posts.

Trump's Truth, a website that archives Trump's Truth Social posts, did not include any posts indexed with that phrase either (archived here).

A Google search (pictured below) for the phrase "I AM ENDING DUAL CITIZENSHIP UNDER THE ESPIONAGE ACT", limited to links containing truthsocial.com/@realdonaldtrump using the "site:" search operator returned no results (archived here), indicating Google didn't recently index such a post.

All screenshots of the supposed post showed exactly the same "Likes" and "ReTruths" counts (19.2k and 5.75k). If the post had been real the expectation would be that there were more screenshots circulating showing different counts and/or layouts (night vs. day mode, mobile vs. web interface...).
