Fact Check: Jelly Roll Did NOT Say He Won't Celebrate Pride Month And 'WOKE Doesn't Deserve To Be Celebrated' Made Up

Did Jelly Roll announce that he would not celebrate Pride Month and that "WOKE Doesn't Deserve to Be Celebrated"? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that the singer, rapper, and songwriter known as Jelly Roll -- real name Jason DeFord -- made such a statement. His official website and social media accounts do not include the statement. The social media accounts making the claim offered no details or links to support it.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published on the Beenie Man account on Facebook on June 14, 2025. It read:

A Google search for "Jelly Roll Pride Month" found no support for the claim beyond social media posts making the claim without supporting details. Jelly Roll's official website also lacks any mention of the statement. The statement also could not be found on his Facebook, Instagram, X.com, or YouTube accounts.

The Bennie Man Facebook account is administered from Vietnam, according to its transparency page. A review of the account found a large number of false claims posted.
