Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show 'Scottish Crowds Give Trump A Royal Welcome' Old Video

Did a widely-shared video show people cheering for U.S. President Donald Trump in Scotland in July 2025? No, that's not true: The clip predated the visit by nine years. In reality, the footage showed concert goers.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here and here) published on TikTok on July 26, 2025, under the caption:

Scottish crowds give Trump a royal welcome.

The lower banner in the video continued:

King Donald.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

The 41-second video purported to show a large crowd cheerfully moving to the sound of bagpipes. However, a reverse image search revealed that the clip's audio track was replaced and that the footage predated Trump's July 2025 visit to Scotland (archived here).

The original video (archived here) was published nine years earlier under a caption which explained that it showed a crowd listening to a band at a music festival, not attendees at a political event:

According to the archived version of the music festival's website, the band named Courteeners (archived here) was indeed part of the 2016 lineup, which is also confirmed by an image of the event published by the BBC (archived here).
