Fact Check: Police NOT Aware Of Any Walter Reed Road Closures On September 2, 2025 Police: No

Were roads around Walter Reed National Military Medical Center closed on September 2, 2025 as claimed by viral online rumors related to speculation about President Trump's health? No, that's not true: The Montgomery County Department of Police told Lead Stories in an emailed statement they were "not aware of any road closures in the area at this time". Google Maps didn't show any closures and the website of the hospital didn't mention any either.

Various posts on social media wrote about rumors that road closures were in effect, for example this post on X (archived here) published on September 2, 2025:

Hearing from several people near Walter Reed Hospital that the roads into the facility have been closed. Can anyone in the area confirm this?

Similar posts (archived here) were frequently accompanied by maps like these:

Lead Stories contacted the local police department to ask if there were any road closings around Walter Reed and received the following statement:

Dispatch has informed me that they are not aware of any road closures in the area at this time.

At the time of writing Google Maps showed normal traffic around the hospital and no road closures:

The hospital's website did post an alert about temporary sidewalk closures on August 21 (archived here) but their alerts page (archived here) currently shows no mention of road closures. Another part of the website linked to the gate hours and that page (archived here) mentioned no road closures either (but it did say "GATE 1" was open "24/7").
