Did California Governor Gavin Newsom win the Nobel Peace Prize on October 7, 2025? No, that's not true: The story originated in a post by satirist Andy Borowitz. The 2025 prize was scheduled to be announced on October 10.
The story appeared in an October 7, 2025, post on Facebook (archived here), which stated:
OSLO--Donald J. Trump reportedly "exploded with rage" on Tuesday after the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2025 Peace Prize to California Governor Gavin Newsom.
In its official statement, the Nobel committee praised Newsom for demonstrating his dedication to the principle of peace by preventing an armed conflict between California and Oregon. They went on to say
"Deciding who will win the Peace Prize is an exhausting and stressful process," the committee stated. "Donald Trump's entry gave us many hours of welcome laughter."

In reality, the story was entirely fabricated, and first appeared in an October 7, 2025 blog post (archived here) by the satirist Andy Borowitz, which bore the headline: "Trump Explodes with Rage after Gavin Newsom Wins Nobel Peace Prize".

According to the official Nobel Prize website (archived here), the next peace prize was not scheduled to be announced until 11am Central European Time on October 10, 2025, meaning it was not possible for the Norwegian Nobel Committee to have announced Newsom -- or anyone else -- as the recipient, before then.
