Fact Check: FAKE Video Shows Pacific Ocean 'Rogue Wave' Hitting the Deck of a Ship Called 'Venessa' AI Creation

Is a video that shows a giant Pacific Ocean rogue wave crashing over the deck of a cruise ship called "Venessa" real? No, that's not true: The account that originally posted the video clearly labeled it "ai video". The account also labeled it "cinematic ai."

The claim appeared in a November 15, 2025 video posted on Instagram account @nautical.daily (archived here). It opened with a caption on the video that read:

The tour ship named Venessa was caught in a severe storm in the Pacific Ocean.

Below is a screenshot from the post:

The video was originally posted on the TikTok account @endlessstoriespictures (archived here) where the bio states it is "An AI creating AI videos." That video is clearly described as AI in the caption as well, reading:

"Rogue wave impact caught on deck - the moment the sea turned violent."

A wave of that size crashing onto the deck of a cruise ship in the Pacific Ocean would have been major news. A search of key phrases on Google (archived here) did not return any matching news reports of a cruise ship named Venessa being hit by a rogue wave in the Pacific Ocean, only copies of the clickbait story. The Yahoo! News index of partner news sites and news services (archived here) showed no legitimate news reports.
