Fact Check: January 6 Pipebomb Suspect Is BRIAN Cole, NOT BRYAN Cole Not That Cole

Did the FBI name Bryan Cole of Fairfax, Virginia, as the suspect in the January 6 pipebomb case in Washington, D.C.? No, that's not true: The suspect named by the FBI on December 4, 2025, is Brian J. Cole, age 30, of Woodbridge, Virginia, who is identified as Black in court records in several Virginia traffic cases. An X post claiming the suspect is Bryan Cole uses a photo of a white man with a red beard.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published by the @piggrussell3714 account on X on December 4, 2025. A caption above a screenshot of Bryan Cole's Facebook page opened:

Bryan Cole? Fairfax Virginia, originally from Woodbridge, Virginia

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

While Bryan Cole's Facebook profile shows he is from Woodbridge, Virginia, he is obviously not the man named by the FBI. A federal source told Lead Stories that the suspect arrested by the FBI is Brian J. Cole , age 30, of Woodbridge, Virginia. Lead Stories also confirmed through official records (archived here) on the website of the Prince William Co., Virginia Office of Real Estate Assessments that the property at 4984 Manor House Court in Woodbridge, VA is owned by Brian J. Cole and Delicia R. Cole. We also verified on BeenVerified.com that the couple that owns this property have a 30-year-old son named Brian Jerome Cole Jr.

Law enforcement investigators were searching the property at the same address in Woodbridge on December 4, 2025.
Video footage (archived here) of the law enforcement search at a property in Woodbridge, compared with a photo of 4984 Manor House Court on Zillow, and the same address on Google Maps makes it clear that it's the same property:

Virginia court records in several minor traffic cases against Brian J. Cole list his race as Black.
