Fact Check: Ben-Gvir Was NOT Killed In An Iranian Missile Strike Or In A 'Car Crash' Old Car Crash

Was Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir killed in an Iranian missile strike, despite Israeli media reports that say he died in a "car crash"? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that Ben-Gvir died in either an Iranian missile strike or a traffic accident. The politician was involved in a wreck in April 2024 but was only "slightly injured."

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X on March 9, 2026. It read:

BREAKING NEWS 🔥 🔥 🔥

'israeli' media unconfirmed reports Itamar Ben Gvir involved in 'car crash' when he has actually been killed in an Iranian missile strike on his home.

Conflict in the Middle East

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on Feb. 28, 2026, which killed Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in an airstrike on his compound in Tehran. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes against the U.S. and allied targets across the Middle East, including Israel.

Itamar Ben-Gvir

A Google News search (archived here) found no evidence that Ben-Gvir had been killed in either an Iranian missile strike or in a motor vehicle accident. He was, however, "slightly injured" in a car accident, the BBC reported in a story (archived here) published on April 26, 2024:

As of publication, Lead Stories found no official response to the post from the Israeli government, including the Ministry of National Security (archived here) that Ben-Gvir leads.
