Fact Check: Erika Kirk Did NOT Announce She Is Opening An Orphanage "In Honor Of Charlie" -- It's A False Rumor Started From Clickbait Not Announced

Did Erika Kirk announce she was opening an orphanage in honor of Charlie Kirk? No, that's not true: A video on TikTok repeats a false claim which began circulating on social media in late October 2025. There is no record of Erika Kirk announcing plans to build a school for orphans in honor of her late husband. The copy/paste posts that spawned the false rumor bear the signs of a clickbait network from Vietnam that is targeting American Facebook audiences.

The video on TikTok (archived here) was published on March 21, 2026 by @vaydaguido. The post is captioned:

Hello??#foryoupage #erikakirk #charliekirk #trump

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

The text over the video reads:

You mean to tell me Erika Kirk is opening an orphanage "in honor of Charlie"??? The same Erika Kirk who was BANNED from Romania for creating an orphanage where the children "mysteriously" went missing?

This fact check will focus on the first part of the caption, that Erika Kirk is opening an orphanage in honor of Charlie - this is false; there has been no public announcement of this plan. Lead Stories published a fact check (archived here) on Sept. 23, 2025 addressing the second part of the claim -- finding there is no evidence Erika Kirk's ministry was accused of trafficking children or banned from Romania.

On Oct. 28, 2025 the Facebook page America's Team Vibes made a post (archived here) captioned:

AMERICA STUNNED: A $175 MILLION GIFT OF HOPE 🇺🇸 In a historic and deeply moving announcement, Erika Kirk

Backed by Jones' philanthropic foundation and Erika's unshakable vision, the academy will offer far more than education -- it will give a home, a family, and a future to children who once had none. "Every child deserves a chance -- and a place to belong," Jones said, his voice filled with emotion. From the gridiron to the classroom, this partnership proves that America's Team still believes in America's heart. #CowboysNation #JerryJones #ErikaKirk #DallasCowboys #LegacyAcademy #FaithFamilyFootball #Inspiration #HopeForAll
The post included a photo montage. On the left is a real photo of the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. In the upper right is a real photo of Erika Kirk speaking at Charlie Kirk's memorial service.

Several more copycat versions of this post were shared by Facebook pages which are also managed by people in Vietnam -- one from Weirdly True (archived here) and another from Next Tech Future (archived here). The Vietnam connection is significant, since fact checkers, including Lead Stories, have identified a major source of AI-generated false stories coming from a single operation based in that Southeast Asian country. Recent reporting and fact checks mentioning that country are available here.
A search (archived here) of Google News for the phrase "Charlie Kirk Legacy Academy" did not return any relevant results. Another search (archived here) for the phrase "$175 million boarding school for orphans and homeless youth" returned a Dec. 12, 2025 fact check from Snopes (archived here) and a Nov. 3, 2025 article (archived here) from Hindustan Times which reported on the unverified nature of the viral rumor.

Lead Stories published a primer on how to identify these kinds of fake posts exported from Vietnam. It's titled "Prebunk: Beware Of Fake Fan Pages Spreading False Stories About Your Favorite Celebrities -- How To Spot 'Viet Spam'".
