Did former British Prime Minister Liz Truss blame "underground transgender mafia" for a KitKat chocolate heist? No, that's not true: The made-up quote originated from a satire account that had a history of attributing false statements about "underground transgender mafia" to Truss. As of this writing, no credible media outlet had reported the former prime minister making such a remark.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here and here) on X, where it was published on March 30, 2026. It read:
BREAKING 🚨🚨🚨 Liz Truss suggests 'underground transgender mafia' may be responsible for Italian chocolate heist that saw over 12 tonnes of KitKats stolen.
This is what the video attached to the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The post appeared online after Nestlé reported that 413,793 KitKat bars were stolen during transit from Italy to Poland the previous week, as documented by the AP (archived here), among others.
However, a search on Google News for the keywords seen here (archived here and here) found no articles reporting Truss making such a statement in the past year.
A search across X showed that the same account, @politicoforyou, made a similar claim in September 2024 (archived here) in which Truss purportedly said that the same "underground transgender mafia" was "plotting against her and brought her leadership to an end".
That account (archived here) displayed a disclaimer in the bio line:
🚨🚨🚨 SATIRE.
The screenshot that was reused in the post in question predated the chocolate heist by nearly four months. It came from the first episode of the former prime minister's show on YouTube (archived here) uploaded on that platform on December 5, 2025. According to the automatic transcription, she did not say anything about "underground transgender mafia" during the show's inaugural episode:

Lead Stories additionally reviewed the show's promo (archived here) published earlier that day, where Truss was seen wearing another red dress but of a different shade. That video did not mention that expression, either:
