Fact Check: FAKE Screenshot Shows Trump Calling For Tiger Woods Pardon In DUI Case -- No Such Truth Social Post Fake Post

Did Donald Trump make a post on Truth Social urging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to pardon golfer Tiger Woods after he was charged with a DUI? No, that's not true: No such post appeared on Trump's Truth Social account, despite a viral image making the rounds that looked like one. Google did not index any such post either.

One example of the fake screenshot appeared in a post on X (archived here) where it was published on March 28, 2026 with a comment that read::

We're at war. Air travel is a mess. There are measles outbreaks. The price of gasoline is skyrocketing. So of course, the president is focused on keeping his pal out of jail.

This is what the image in question looked like:

The text in the purported Trump post read:

I've just been told that Tiger Woods, who is a Great Golfer and even Greater American, was involved in a minor fender bender today, and as a result of a misunderstanding, was charged with a dreaded DUI. This happening as he attempts to return to professional golf. Everyone deserves a second chance, which Tiger never got, if we're being honest. That is why I am calling on Gov. Ron DeSantis to IMMEDIATELY AND COMPLETELY PARDON Tiger so he can focus on The Masters and help to Make Golf Great Again!

Lead Stories searched for the phrase "Great Golfer and even Greater American" on Trump's Truth Social account and no matching posts were returned (archived here).

A Google search for the same phrase limited to links containing truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump using the "site:" search operator returned no results either (archived here), indicating Google didn't recently index such a post.

All screenshots of the supposed post reviewed by Lead Stories showed exactly the same background. If the post had been real the expectation would be that there were more screenshots circulating showing different view counts and/or layouts (night vs. day mode, mobile vs. web interface...).
