Fact Check: Staged Video Shows British Kids Locking Police Officer In Supermarket Shopping Carts -- Prank Skit Prank Video

Does a video show a real incident where British kids trapped a police officer inside a chain of locked shopping trolleys? No, that's not true: This video is a skit and the people are actors. The video was originally published on Facebook by the Official Jarvo69 Page, which boasts they are the "Greatest Prankster on Earth."

The video resurfaced in a post (archived here) on X by @GreatBritishMC on April 9, 2026. It was captioned:

British school kids locked a police officer in a shopping trolley and trolled him until a member of the public stepped in and let him free 😭💀

This is a screenshot of the video in the post:

The video pictured above has been cropped and a watermark for GreatBritishMC has been added. The original video (archived here), in a vertical format with a @BMWJARVO watermark (pictured below), was published by Jarvo 69 on Facebook on April 8, 2026. The account's bio says:

This account has published many videos that feature police-themed skits with the same police van. Another video (archived here) was published on April 9, 2026, showing a continuation of the same scene, where a bystander helps to free the officer character from the locked-together trolleys. The officer hides his face from the camera as he returns to the van. As he drives away a medallion visible on the van (inset pictured below) is the logo of the Northumberland and City Police. This is a fictional police force appearing in the British crime drama series "Vera." There is an entry (archived here) for this force and their staff on the fictionalpoliceforcesuk.fandom wiki.
