Fact Check: Graphic ACCURATELY Depicts Net Worth Changes For Recent Presidents But Includes Formatting Errors Est. Wealth

Does an online graphic accurately depict changes in the net worth of recent presidents from Bill Clinton to Joe Biden? Yes, that's true: The figures were originally compiled by two personal finance publications using publicly available information and estimates from universities, as well as financial media outlets. While exact net worth figures can vary, the graphic generally aligns with widely reported estimates for recent presidents.

The claim appeared in a post and image (archived here) by the David J Harris Jr. account on Facebook on May 9, 2026. It read:

What does this tell you?

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The figures shared in the AI-generated graphic were first reported in the personal finance publications Cheapism (archived here) in February 2023 (updated in October 2025), Wealth Gang (archived here) in October 2024 and Newsweek (archived here) in November 2024 (updated in September 2025). Newsweek cited both Cheapism and Wealth Gang in its reporting.

A chart in the Newsweek article includes four of the five presidents shown in the Facebook post. The figures match for all of them except Clinton. While the Facebook graphic above lists Clinton's post-presidency net worth at $241 million, as reported by Cheapism, the Newsweek chart uses the more conservative estimate of $120 million reported by Wealth Gang:

For Donald Trump, the before and after numbers -- $3 billion and $2.3 billion -- have since recovered, both nearly tripling since the initial decline. Another chart in the Newsweek story puts his net worth at $6.5 billion, which cites Bloomberg data (archived here):

As previously mentioned, the graphic from the Facebook post is AI-generated, which does not affect the accuracy of the data but does produce glitches in the image itself. For example, the George W. Bush presidency was from January 2001 to January 2009, not 2011 to 2009. Barack Obama's term should be from January 2009 to January 2017, not 2009 to 201. Both errors are circled in red below:

The Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection tool concluded that the image was 100% "likely to be AI-generated":
