Did Denzel Washington make some disparaging remarks about Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after having a conversation with her? No, that's not true: There is no record of Washington saying these things about Ocasio-Cortez. The almost verbatim quotes were originally falsely attributed to Sylvester Stallone, but came from a source which has clear satire disclaimers.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the account @JDBets34 on X on Sept. 1, 2026. It read:
Doesn't surprise me. The whole party is like that! Hollywood icon Denzel Washington says a ten-minute conversation with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez felt 'like talking to a high school girl.' 'I'm being honest, I was pretty shocked,' Washington said. 'She just didn't seem to know what she was talking about. The talking points were childish, her view of the world is completely jaded, and it honestly feels like somebody convinced her a long time ago that America is something she should hate.' Washington also took a swipe at AOC's background, saying, 'When you elect a bartender with a theater degree to Congress, this is what you get.' 'I really don't think she understands what her job is.'

A search of Google News for the terms "Denzel Washington Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez" produced no relevant results (archived here).
On Aug. 13, 2026, Lead Stories published a fact check article titled, "Fact Check: Sylvester Stallone Did NOT Say Talking To AOC Was 'Like Listening To A High School Girl'". The quotes falsely attributed to Stallone (below) contain phrases (bolded) which are nearly identical to the phrases attributed to Washington (above):

The fictional quotes attributed to Stallone originated from a Facebook page called "America - Love It Or Leave It" part of America's Last Line of Defense (ALLOD), a network of satire websites run by self-professed liberal troll Christopher Blair.
The Facebook page has a disclaimer (pictured below) which says:
An authorized dumping ground for certified trollery and right-wing propaganda courtesy of America's Last Line of Defense. Nothing on this page is real.

The Denzel Washington claim has also appeared on Facebook where it was posted Aug. 24, 2026, on the David Attenborough Fans group (archived here). The post contains a link directing to a clickbait website named New and Tips at ifeg.info (archived here).
