Did a real news broadcast show Vice President JD Vance in Ohio breaking sad news while flanked by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio? No, that's not true: The short video clip is AI-generated and there was no such announcement made by Vance. These clickbait posts on Facebook offer a link in the first comment, but the articles do not provide the answers people are hoping to find.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published by the Terry William account on Facebook on Sept. 22, 2026. It read:

The first comment in the post directs to a blog named rznews777.site (archived here). The article titled "🚨Breaking 30 Minutes ago in Ohio., JD Vance was confirmed as..." is vaguely about the April 25, 2026, incident at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, but the article neither reports any sad news announced by Vance nor explains what he "was confirmed as." Since that post was published, the Terry William account has published the same reel (archived here), with the same caption, five more times (pictured below). This is significant because the caption claims this is breaking news from "30 minutes ago".

A search on Facebook for the keywords in the caption showed many copycat posts with the same format, placing a link in the comments. One example was posted on Facebook by an account called Loun Loun on July 20, 2026 (archived here) -- also captioned with phrases about "news" and "30 minutes ago." A review of the reels published by Loun Loun (archived here) shows that this Vance video has been published at least nine times by that account. There is only one comment on the July 20 reel, a link to a WordPress blog titled "My Blog" at cloud99.site (archived here) using the same WordPress template as rznews777.site. The article is a copy of the other with a slightly different title: "✅JD Vance was confirmed as...💔".
Lead Stories uploaded the Loun Loun video to Hive Moderation (archived here) The AI-generated content detection tool found the video to be 77.4% likely to be AI-generated content (pictured below).

Lead Stories used Google Lens to search for any image of Trump, Vance, and Rubio at the podium bearing the Seal of the President of the United States at this emotional moment. The search results (archived here) found many copies of the AI-generated clickbait video, but no similar images from an official White House news briefing showing all three men in the same context.
