Tiger Woods Falls Off Cliff At U.S. Open

  • by: Alan Duke

Tiger Woods shot his worst 36 holes in a major tournament, finishing Friday's U.S.Open second round at 16 strokes under par. Woods, 39, failed to make the cut with his 6 over par 76 Friday, following a disaterous 10 over Thursday round at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington.

It is just the fifth time in his career that Woods, who has won the U.S. Open three times, has failed to make the cut in a golf major. He was the world's top ranked golfer just over a year ago, but recent weeks have seen him struggling. He shot a career worst 85 at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio two weeks ago.

His eight bogeys and a triple bogey put him in 152nd place Thursday. At least he kept his sense of humor "The bright side is at least I kicked Rickie's butt today," Woods joked to reporters, referring to his besting of Rickie Fowler's 81 round.
