Estranged Husband Claims Body of Jim Carrey's Girlfriend Cathriona White

  • by: Alan Duke

A man Cathriona White met and married while working as a make up artist on a TV series claimed his wife's body from the Los Angeles County morgue Tuesday, eight days after she killed herself with an overdose of prescription drugs, Lead Stories has confirmed.

White's corpse was found in her Los Angeles home next to two goodbye notes to Jim Carrey and three bottles of pills prescribed to the actor under an alias, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.

Her remains will be returned to her native Ireland for burial by her husband, who the coroner identified as Mark Burton. Lead Stories has confirmed that Burton was a sound technician and camera operator on the TV series "The Online Gamer" at the same time White worked as a make up artists and acting extra.

Carrey, 53, and White, 30, began an on-and-off relationship in 2012 that continued until just days before her body was found in her bed when concerned friends checked on her after not hearing from her for several days.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes an unnamed source close to Carrey as saying the actor was under the impression that White was separate from Burton and was planning to file for divorce in December.

Earlier Revelations

Carrey's girlfriend left two notes addressed to the actor at the side of the bed where she killed herself apparently with drugs prescribed for Carrey, a Los Angeles investigator confirmed to Lead Stories.

Cathriona White is believed to have taken an overdose of several drugs that had been prescribed to Carrey under an alias, including the painkiller Percocet, insomnia treatment Ambien and the blood pressure medicine Propranolol, according to Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.

Investigators found four drug bottles next to the bed where White died, three of them prescribed to an alias traced to Carrey. It's not illegal in California for a doctor to use a fake name to prescribe controlled drugs to a celebrity patient as long as the pharmacist is aware of the alias, Winter said.

Winter would not disclosed what White wrote to Carrey. The two notes to him were found at the death scene.

While White's death is believed to be a suicide, the final report will not be issued for another two months. It will take that long for toxicology lab results to show which drugs caused her death.

Carrey tweeted a photo she took of him in New York less than two weeks before her death.
