Why 'Florida Evans' Is Trending On Memorial Day: Big Boi's Commentary On Modern Moms

Honoring those who gave their lives in service to their country is usually the thing on Memorial Day, but Outkast's Big Boi started a Twitter thing about how motherhood has evolved with a meme that feature's "Good Times" mom Florida Evans and a supposed mom twerking.

"Mothers in the 70's" is above the photo of Florida Evans -- played by Esther Rolle -- in a kitchen scene talking to daughter Thelma -- played by Bern Nadette Stanis.

"Mothers Now" is above a photo of a nearly-nude African-American woman in a twerking pose.

"And we act like we don't know what's wrong with these kids" is written below.

Big Boi's Twitter commentary triggered thousands of responses, some racially-charged and others more thoughtful.
