Satire Alert: MI5 NOT to become MI-Fabulous (Might Still Be Britain's Most Gay-Friendly Employer Though)

Fact Check

Fresh off their amazing succes in fooling the world with their 'cold as f*ck' story about BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, Britain's best satire website NewsThump follows up with another doozy. This time they are claiming Britain's famous spy agency MI5 is going to rebrand as MI-Fabulous! after being named Britain's most gay-friendly employer.

Quoting a 'senior spook', the article points out the obvious:

One of MI5's biggest recruiting needs is people who can pretend to be someone entirely different for extended periods of time. And then it struck us that's pretty much all the gay people we ever employed before we changed our HR policy. They're actually really good at this whole 'secret identity' malarkey. 'Out and proud!' is our new slogan, except the bit about being a spy. They've still got to keep that quiet, obviously.

There is even talk in the article of replacing Daniel Craig with Stephen Fry for the role of the iconic MI5 spy James Bond.

Intelligence sources here at Lead Stories tell us the story is definitely fake, given the source. But we can't confirm or deny the status of MI5 as being a gay-friendly employer as they are notoriously tight-lipped about who their employees are and what they are up to in the bedroom, for some reason.
