Fact Check: Joe Biden Did NOT Post On Parler That He Plans To Enact A 'Subjugation Reparations Act' And Rename The Washington Monument 'BLM Tower' Fake Post

Did Joe Biden post on Parler that he plans to enact a "Subjugation Reparations Act" and change the name of the Washington Monument to the "BLM Tower"? No, that's not true: There's no evidence he ever said that -- nor that he would support such proposals. Biden's "Plan for Black America" does not commit to reparations and makes no mention of the Washington Monument.

The claim appeared in a Facebook post (archived here) on November 11, 2020. The post included a message that read: "Wow, it's already starting. *This statement hasn't been verified. If anyone has info, please post in comments. We have enough fake news!" It also included a screenshot of what looked to be a Biden post on Parler, a social media app. The purported post opened:

As we move forward into the future of the new American Dream I am committed to healing our nation. My administration has recognized the systemic racism within our culture and as such we will be introducing legislation to rectify our historic failures. The United States promoted slavery from 1776 to 1865 and it is a wrongdoing that needs righting.

The alleged Biden post continued:

The "Subjugation Reparations Act" will be enacted to include that both Federal and State taxes will be abated, at Zero Percent, for the next 89 years for all black families in America. I will also be signing an executive order renaming the Washington Monument to the BLM Tower. My father always said to me "Joey, you may have beaten corn-pop with the threat of a chain but pop-corn will get stuck in your teeth forever unless you floss". It's time for America to floss our systemic racism.

There's no evidence Biden ever said that -- nor that he would support such statements and proposals. See here for a breakdown of his "Plan for Black America," which does not commit to reparations and makes no mention of the Washington Monument.

Indeed, people commenting on the Facebook post pointed out that it's not true. One wrote:

This is fake, there's nothing on any other account nothing on their website. I'd never stick up for Biden but I'm not a fan of fake information.

Another asked:

Surely this is satire?

Other people commenting on the Facebook post took it to be true.
