Fact Check: President-Elect Joe Biden's Sister Is NOT Married To Dominion Voting Systems' Owner Wrong Spouse

Is Joe Biden's sister married to Stephen Owens, whose company owns Dominion Voting Systems? No, that's not true: Valerie Biden Owens is not married to Stephen Owens, according to a Dominion spokeswoman and numerous news accounts about the Biden family. Biden's only sister is married to John (Jack) Owens, who owns a Delaware-based telemedicine company, according to The Washington Post

The claim appeared in a Facebook post (archived here) on December 19, 2020. The one-sentence post said:

Bidens sister is married to Stephen Owens, who owns Dominion voting systems

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

Stephen Owens is managing director and co-founder of Staple Street Capital, a private equity firm that became an owner of Dominion Voting Systems in 2018. Dominion is the maker of software and voting machines that have been the subject of numerous false claims during President Donald Trump's attempts to have the 2020 election result overturned.

This is what a Dominion spokeswoman wrote in an email to Lead Stories about the claim that the president elect's sister is married to the Staple Street Capital official :

There is no family ties between Mr. Owens and Valerie Owens. This is disinformation being spread on social media. Staple Street is the owner of Dominion.
