Fact Check: Biden, White House DID Mention Jesus Christ, The Resurrection On Easter Prayer Offered

Did President Joe Biden and his administration not mention Jesus Christ and the Resurrection on March 31, 2024, when many denominations of Christianity celebrate Easter? No, that's not true: The president released a statement on Easter mentioning both. "Easter reminds us of the power of hope and the promise of Christ's Resurrection. As we gather with loved ones, we remember Jesus' sacrifice. We pray for one another and cherish the blessing of the dawn of new possibilities," the statement read.

The claim about Biden and the White House supposedly omitting references to Easter appeared in the comments for a post (archived here) by @latinosfortrump on Instagram on March 31, 2024. The post included a screenshot of a post on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, by Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary. @latinosfortrump's comment about the post said:

This is the White House post from the press secretary, says nothing about Jesus Christ and his resurrection. 🀑

Joe Biden declares that March 31, 2024, Easter Sunday is transgender visibility day while he bans Christian symbols from the White House Easter egg roll. Disgraceful.

No mention of Jesus Christ on any White House media nor by Joe Biden. Thats tells you all you need to know.

Although it's true that the press secretary's X post did not mention Jesus Christ or the Resurrection, it's not true that Biden and the White House did not mention them on Easter.

In a statement (archived here) released on March 31, 2024, the date for the Gregorian-calendar commemoration of Easter, the president and his wife, Jill, offered greetings to those celebrating the holiday. The statement read:

Jill and I send our warmest wishes to Christians around the world celebrating Easter Sunday. Easter reminds us of the power of hope and the promise of Christ's Resurrection.

As we gather with loved ones, we remember Jesus' sacrifice. We pray for one another and cherish the blessing of the dawn of new possibilities. And with wars and conflict taking a toll on innocent lives around the world, we renew our commitment to work for peace, security, and dignity for all people.

From our family to yours, happy Easter and may God bless you.

Lead Stories has debunked other claims related to Biden and Easter in 2024. We reported that the Biden White House did not introduce a rule banning Christian symbols from an Easter egg contest; he also did not declare Easter Sunday to be the "Transgender Day of Visibility."
