Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Biden Calling Trump 'A Danger To The Country' After Assassination Attempt -- Interview Was Filmed The Day Before Day Before

Does a video show President Joe Biden calling former President Donald Trump "a danger to the country" after the assassination attempt against Trump on July 13, 2024? No, that's not true: The video of Biden calling Trump a "danger to the country" is from an interview he recorded the day before, on July 12, 2024. That's according to the White House pool report, the record of presidential trips written by reporters who travel with him outside Washington, D.C. The assassination attempt took place on July 13, 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The claim appeared in a post and video (archived here) on X, formerly known as Twitter, on July 15, 2024. It said:

Days after an attempted assassination, Biden is back to calling Trump a 'danger to the country.'

So much for that whole 'toning down the rhetoric' thing.

Here is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

The 12-second video posted on X is from Biden's interview with Speedy Morman (archived here), the host of the YouTube series "360 with Speedy" on the Complex channel, on July 12, 2024. That's according to the White House poor report obtained by Lead Stories from that day. The pool report from July 12, 2024, at 8:54:44 PM EDT stated:

Pool is holding in vans at the high school. In the meantime...
On behalf of the Biden-Harris Campaign:
President Biden is taping a video interview with Speedy Morman, host of the YouTube series '360 with Speedy Morman' on Complex.

In the video, Biden says:

You know, Donald Trump, I think, I said from the beginning when I ran in 2020 that he was a, he's a real danger to the country, to democracy.

The disclaimer at the beginning of the interview posted on YouTube states it was recorded on July 12, 2024, the day before the shooting, as this screenshot shows:

Biden makes the comment at the 2:03 mark, as the video shows:
