Fact Check: Trump NOT Planning To Abolish Fake 'Trans-Species Child Tax Credit' -- It's Satire Satire Origin

Is President-elect Donald Trump planning to abolish a tax credit for parents of "trans-species" children, or kids who identify as animals? No, that's not true: This originated on a social media account that clearly labels itself as "satire." No such tax credit is listed on the Internal Revenue Service's website.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) on TikTok on November 14, 2024, with the caption "Biden gave yall what????" The clip's title read:

PARENTS OF TRANS-SPECIES KIDS NO LONGER GETTING MONEY EVERY MONTH BC OF TRONALD DUMP

In the video, a woman says:

Parents of trans-species kids: What are we doing about Donald Trump getting rid of the trans-species child tax credit?

For the past four years since Biden got in office, I've been receiving $12,000 a year because ... my son identifies as a cat, and that's counted as a disability ... So they send me $1,000 a month to help with raising him, his transition and all that ... But Donald Trump's getting rid of that. So, what are we gonna do? Because I've been using that to pay for my mortgage payment.

The video originated on a TikTok page titled "isatandstared" on November 13, 2024, (archived here). The description clearly states that it is a "satire account" (archived here).

The "trans-species child tax credit" is a bogus concept. Lead Stories searched the IRS website and found no such credit listed (archived here).

The IRS does offer a "child tax credit" (archived here), but this is not a monthly cash payment to parents. It is a deduction that certain parents with dependent children aged 17 and younger can claim on their tax returns.
