Fact Check: Edited Photo Of Javier Milei's Sister Shows Different Eyes, Nose, Mouth -- Original Taken In 2023 Edited Photo

Does a viral photo accurately portray Argentinian President Javier Milei's sister Karina Milei? No, that's not true: The image has been heavily edited to completely change her face. The original image was taken in 2023 and shows completely different facial features, notably the eyes, nose and mouth.

An example of the image appeared in a post on X (archived here) where it was published on February 18, 2025, accompanied by the text:

this is javier milei's sister btw

notice anything?

This is what the image looked like:

The original, unmodified photo has been online since at least 2023 when it appeared on Getty Images (archived here) with the following caption:

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - OCTOBER 22: Karina Milei sister of the presidential candidate for La Libertad Avanza Javier Milei looks on after the general elections on October 22, 2023 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to official results, presidential candidate for Union Por La Patria Sergio Massa has 36,50% of the votes and presidential candidate for La Libertad Avanza Javier Milei 30,09%, with 95,54% of the voting counted. Massa and Milei will compete in the presidential runoff on November 19, 2023. The presidential election to succeed Alberto Fernandez comes as Argentinians have been hard hit by an annual 124% inflation and over 40% of the population is considered to be living in poverty. The original image has been used in news coverage about her, for example here in the Buenos Aires Times (achived here):
