Fact Check: Fake Screenshot Has Trump 'Annexe' Alaska And Greenland, Making Them 52nd And 53rd State -- No Such Post Fake Post

Did President Trump post on Truth Social that he was going to "annexe Alaska" after Greenland, in order to make it the "53rd State" and did he say "the people of Alaska don't want to be part of a backward nation in Canada?" No, that's not true: Viral screenshots of such a post are fake. Trump's actual Truth Social account does not have such a post on it and Google hasn't indexed one either.

An example of the viral screenshot could be seen in this X post (archived here) published on March 14, 2025 accompanied by the text:

🚨FFS someone tell him🤦‍♂️

This is what the image looked like:

The text included in the fake screenshot read:

After I've annexed Greenland and making it the 52nd State, I will annexe Alaska. The people of Alaska don't want to be part of a backward nation in Canada. I will make all Alaskan's rich and prosperous when they become the 53rd State of our mighty country. Nobody in Greenland or Alaska would ever have dreamed of this under Crooked Joe Biden.

Lead Stories searched for the phrase "annexe Alaska" on Trump's Truth Social account (archived here) and did not find any matching posts.

Trump's Truth, a website that archives Trump's Truth Social posts, did not include any posts indexed with that phrase either (archived here).

A Google search (pictured below) for the phrase "annexe Alaska", limited to links containing truthsocial.com/@realdonaldtrump using the "site:" search operator returned no results (archived here), indicating Google didn't recently index such a post.

All screenshots of the supposed post showed exactly the same font and background. If the post had been real the expectation would be that there were more screenshots circulating showing different view counts and/or layouts (night vs. day mode, mobile vs. web interface...).
