Fact Check: AI Video Falsely Claims Whoopi Goldberg Fled The Country After An $800M Lawsuit From Karoline Leavitt -- Made Up Story AI Video

Did Whoopi Goldberg flee the country after an $800 million lawsuit from Karoline Leavitt had a "speed up"? No, that's not true: A viral video making that claim was largely AI generated. No actual news outlet has reported on such a lawsuit, which would have been huge news if it really existed.

The story appeared in a viral video (archived here) published on April 18, 2025 with a title that read "Whoopi FLEES COUNTRY After Karoline Leavitt $800M LAWSUIT Process Speed Up!" and following description:

She's gone--and not a single goodbye.

In today's explosive video, we dive into the jaw-dropping story that has the internet--and the courtroom--on fire. Whoopi Goldberg has reportedly fled the country just as the $800 million defamation lawsuit filed by Karoline Leavitt picks up full speed. What began as a heated segment on The View has morphed into a legal showdown unlike anything daytime television has seen.

Karoline Leavitt isn't just fighting back--she's dismantling the very system that mocked her on national TV. Armed with receipts, recordings, and internal production notes, her legal team is forcing ABC to reckon with what many are calling "a media takedown disguised as commentary."

Meanwhile, ABC is in total crisis mode. Advertisers are pulling out. Executives are considering canceling The View. And Whoopi? She's nowhere to be found.

We break down:

The moment Karoline flipped the power dynamic

Whoopi's quiet disappearance overseas

The internal meltdown happening at ABC

Why this case could set a precedent for media accountability in 2025 and beyond

Was this just daytime drama gone too far--or a cultural reckoning in real time?

An AI detector (Hiya in the InVid verification plugin) showed that the audio was likely not authentic and that several parts were the result of "voice cloning" and "very likely AI-Generated":

A Google News search for stories mentioning the terms "whoopi", "karoline leavitt", "lawsuit" and "800" did not return any results (archived here).

The story is reminiscent of other AI-generated sensationalistic false stories involving Karoline Leavitt, lawsuits and altercations on The View that Lead Stories debunked earlier here, here and here which seem to have become an entire genre of misinformation lately.
