Fact Check: Pam Bondi NOT Prosecuting People Saying 'Clown Prince Trump' -- Spoof Headline From Satire Page Joke Image

Did Attorney General Pam Bondi threaten to prosecute anyone calling President Trump "Clown Prince Trump" and was this reported on Fox News? No, that's not true: A viral image making that claim originated on a satirical Facebook page. It contained several hints that were hard to discern on a phone screen, such as a "Fox Mews" logo and a "Braking Mews" chyron.

The image first appeared in a Facebook post (archived here) published on May 20, 2025 by a Facebook page named "Mrs. Putin". It was accompanied by this text:

"IF YOU CALL HIM 'CLOWN PRINCE TRUMP' YOU WILL BE PROSECUTED" -AG BONDl
STOP calling me Clown Prince. I am just a patriot who wants to be President for 3-4 terms.
By the way, that quote is from Bondl, the last letter is a capital "I" as in pam bondl.

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The Facebook page that published the story (archived here) had a bio that read:

A fictional character based on a selfish crook who inadvertently found wealth and power. ** This page publishes hateful and stupid messages it recieves.

Along with that the page also had a "Satire/parody" label.

The image itself also contained several hints it was not meant to be taken seriously, such as a "@Mrs.Putin" watermark, a logo misspelling the word "channel" that saif "Fox Mews" instead of "Fox News", a bug that said "Liver from Prussia" instead of "Live from Russia", an indicator this was "Braking Mews" instead of "Breaking News", misspelling "NASDAQ" as "NADSAQ" and an obviously made-up name for the "White House Correspondent":

On smaller screens however these hints were hard to see so many people took the image at face value.
