Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Strike Happening During June 2025 Iran-Israel Conflict 2024

Did a widely-shared video show a missile strike occurring during the June 2025 Iran-Israel conflict? No, that's not true: The footage predated that particular round of escalation. It had been online since 2024.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published on X on June 17, 2025. It consisted of a clip of missiles striking an urban environment at night, along with the following caption:

Israel is losing the war it started, yet does not want to walk away from the historic opportunity to destroy Iran. Thus, the US entering the war is guaranteed. - The exit strategy? Without ground troops, will the US murder Iranians until there is regime change or capitulation?

The post, and video, can be viewed below:

In reality, the footage was not new, and had been online at least since October 1, 2024, when it was published, for example, by Vatican News (archived here) and the New York Post (archived here), among other accounts on social media:

Earlier, the same footage had already been recycled to make other false claims. For example, in May 2025, posts purported that the clip showed India-Pakistan clashes.
