Fact Check: Video Of Trump Wishing 'Not So Happy Pride Month' Was NOT Authentic Not Authentic

Did U.S. President Donald Trump issue an Oval Office address wishing Americans a "not so happy Pride Month"? No, that's not true: The viral clip was digitally altered. In the original video, Trump talked about Easter. The altered video includes a black screen at the end that declares it a deep fake.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X where it was published on June 1, 2025. It opened:

Why is Donald Trump wishing everyone a 'not-so-happy' Pride Month? Unreal.

The post included a clip in which the sitting president appeared to be saying:

Donald Trump [is] here to wish you a not-so-happy Pride Month...

This is what the entry looked like on X at the time of writing:

The X account that published the video describes its content as "mostly satire" (archived here), and the last frame of the clip in question stated that it was "a deepfake, quite obviously."

Yet, in comments some people still wondered if the video was real (archived here).

The clip was digitally manipulated. The original footage uploaded to YouTube on April 18, 2025, depicted Trump's Easter address and did not mention Pride Month at all:

A search across the White House website (archived here) showed several results mentioning the word "pride" since Trump's second inauguration on January 20, 2025. Lead Stories manually reviewed those transcripts, but none discussed Pride Month.

A search across the archive of his posts on Truth Social did not reveal any matches published during the same period (archived here).

A search across Google News for the keywords seen here (archived here) did not produce any credible reports confirming that the sitting president publicly said what was attributed to him in the post reviewed in this fact check.

Previously, the same account on X published another digitally altered Oval Office video of Trump, which falsely claimed that he canceled Pride Month. That deep fake was debunked by Lead Stories here.
