Fact Check: It is An Edited Image Of Trump NOT Original AP News Photo Showing How He Really Looked Altered Image

Does a photo of Trump speaking at a microphone show how he looked on May 8, 2026? No, that's not true: This image has been digitally edited. The real photo, taken by a staff photojournalist for The Associated Press, shows Trump speaking at a White House Rose Garden event. The digital edit to the photo has removed most of the volume from the hair on the top of his head and introduced a disheveled appearance to the hair over his ears.

The altered image appeared in a post (archived here) where it was published by @KyleKulinski. It was captioned:

The Associated Press published a video titled, "Trump wishes moms a happy Mother's Day during Rose Garden event" on YouTube May 8, 2026 (archived here). The one-minute, 34-second video shows Trump's entrance and short speech at a lectern. Although not pictured in the body of the video, the thumbnail image (archived here) for the video shows the still photo of Trump speaking at the microphone (pictured below).

There are several differences between the original press photo and the altered image. The edits focus on Trump's hair. The volume of hair on the top of his head appears reduced. The hair above his ears, which was combed back, was altered to a disheveled appearance. Another indicator of digital editing is visible around Trump's ears, which look pixelated, and on his skin, appearing artificially smoothed.
