Does a video featuring a "Christian Influencer" who "accidentally" attended an LGBTQ+ Pride Month event document a real-life story? No, that's not true: The clip was initially published with a satire disclaimer. Its creator previously said that she uses humor to call out what she considers problematic religious practices to make Christianity more inclusive.
The story originated from a post (archived here and here) published on Instagram by @aprilajoy on June 30, 2026. It read:
Satire based on *those* Christian influencers that accidentally go to Pride festivals. happy last day of pride month! #christianhumor #exvangelical #pridemonth
This is what the thumbnail image from the video looked like on Instagram at the time of writing:

Besides the satire disclaimer in the post's caption, the account's self-description (archived here) also implied that its contents should not be taken seriously. In part, it read:
Humorously Detoxing 🇺🇸Christianity.
The account belongs to April Ajoy. According to her interview with CNN (archived here), she grew up in a deeply religious household, but later wrote a book to use humor "to shine light on harmful, toxic, and sometimes just weird traits of American Evangelicalism", as her page (archived here) on the publisher's website says.
The content of the video reviewed in this fact check makes its satirical intent clear. It tells a made-up story of a female character determined to stick to the mission of teaching participants of the Pride event about Jesus. Instead, the woman ended up discovering same-sex sexual practices within a matter of hours.
The clip began with the female narrator saying:
I was reading my Bible this morning, and I decided to come down here, to a bakery, and I accidentally stumbled upon a Pride fest. So I'm going to go into the belly of the beast, so that my followers can see what Sodom and Gomorrah is really like. Someone just came up to me and gave me these Pride sunglasses. This is the gay agenda at work, but I'm not falling for it. They keep handing me these pride stickers. I'm just going to lean into it and reclaim the rainbow, because God gave the rainbow to Noah first. This woman just came up to me and complimented my outfit, and I accidentally gave her my number, but it's okay, because I'm just going to use this as an opportunity to tell her about Jesus. Okay, so I met that girl at this coffee shop to witness to her, but I think I might accidentally be on a date.
The final shot in the video, however, appeared to show what looked like a bedroom. The same woman concluded:
Okay, so I think I accidentally discovered what scissoring is.
Yet, some posts -- for example, here (archived here and here) -- shared the video in question without a satire disclaimer, creating an impression that the recording depicted a real-life situation.
