Fact Check: Elon Musk Did NOT Make X Post Saying He's Developing App For 'Bored Billionaires' to Pay Other People's Bills Never Posted

Did Elon Musk announce on his X account that he is making an app with which "bored billionaires" pay other people's bills? No, that's not true: Musk's account does not show that he ever made such a post. No established news outlets published reports that would confirm the supposed announcement.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the account Things You Don't Know on Facebook on Nov. 1, 2026. The post read:

Musk wants bored billionaires to swipe right on your bills.
Elon Musk posted on X that he is making an app where people upload their bills and bored billionaires swipe right to pay them.
In everyday terms, strangers would list their bills and debts like a dating profile. A billionaire with time on his hands would pick one and pay it. Zoom out, and Musk already runs X Money, where users can send each other cash.
Would you upload your bills for a billionaire to pay, or keep them private?

There is no evidence that Musk ever made such an announcement on his official X account. The supposed screenshot of the post does not include any date information showing when Musk would have made the post. An advanced search on X of Musk's account for the phrase "bored billionaires" generated no results (archived here).

Searches on Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) did not return any results confirming the claim.

Lead Stories did not find any information suggesting that the "sources" named in the Facebook post published articles that supported the claim. K24 Digital, an online Kenyan news website, did not have an article on its live site about the "bored billionaires" app (archived here). 24/7 Wall St. -- spelled incorrectly in the post as "247 Wall St" -- is a digital financial news platform. It also did not have a live story about the supposed app (archived here).
