Rand Paul: Jeb Bush Is A Hypocrite Who Would Jail Moms Trying To Get Medicine For Sick Child

  • by: Alan Duke

Rand Paul called out Jeb Bush as a hypocrite during the CNN GOP presidential debate for opposing marijuana legalization although he smoked pot as a teen. While Bush used the drug himself and was never sent to jail, he would put mothers in jail for trying to get medical cannabis oil to treat their sick child.

Bush responded that opposed medical marijuana because of the "serious epidemic of drugs" -- specifically involving heroin -- and pot was a gateway drug for harder drugs. He said legalizing medical marijuana in Florida would be the "first step toward getting to a Colorado place," referring to one of the states that legalized recreational marijuana.

Paul said the federal government's war on drugs is racially unfair and "hurts the inner-city."
The country should "take a different attitude with more rehabilitation and less incarceration," he said.

Paul also attack Chris Christie for saying he would have federal law enforcement agents arrest people for marijuana sales in Colorado. He said the 10th amendment gives states the rights to make their own criminal laws, which Christie should respect.

Christie defended his opposition to legalized marijauna, saying it causes a decrease in work productivity and leads people to harder drugs.

Carly Fiorina jumped into the pot debate, saying she opposes legal marijuana because she "buried a child to drug addiction." She said people are wrong to think that smoking marijuana is no worse than drinking a beer. Today's weed "is not the same as what Jeb smoked 40 years ago," Fiorina said.
