The unexpected happened to Jason Frost and Brandon Key while fishing on Alabama's Black Warrior River Saturday, August 29, 2015.
Frost noticed something swimming from an island toward his boat. It was a small orange tabby cat. Frost fished it out and then noticed another tabby kitten was following the same watery path.
"This puts a new spin on the term 'catfishing,'" Frost wrote on the YouTube post where he shared the video.
