The woman who became an internet thing for reading a book at a Donald Trump campaign rally in Springfield, Missouri, explains she just lost interest in the GOP frontrunner's stump speech.
Johari Osayi Idusuyi says she suspects a campaign worker invited her to sit on the VIP stand directly behind Trump because she is an African American and most of the people there were white. "It wasn't conniving, we didn't sneak in there," the college student told Springfield's WICS. "He asked us, probably for obvious reasons, but we went, we took the opportunity, and we sat and he told us to sit in the middle and we did,"
She picked up the book and started reading during the speech when her "energy shifted" into disinterest with what Trump was saying, she said. The book was "Citizen," which is a series of poems about race in America. She told the TV reporter she hopes Trump and his supporters pick up the book.
