Big Boy Pants: 'Affluenza' Teen Moved To Adult Jail

  • by: Lead Stories Staff

A judge signed an order today to move "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch to an adult facility. He had previously been detained in the Lynn W. Ross Juvenile Detention Center. He now has been moved to the Lon Evans Corrections Center, a minimum security jail in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.

After fighting extradition from Mexico, Couch arrived back in North Texas on January 28. His mother was returned to the United States shortly after her arrest in the Mexican resort city of Puerto Vallarta on December 28.

Ethan and his mother fled the country after a video surfaced on Twitter, allegedly showing the teen at a party playing beer pong. The video shows several young people in a room, with red solo cups and beer cans stacked on a table. It ends when a young man dives onto the table, and it collapses. A person, reported to be Couch, is not seen drinking at the party.

The issue was that for his probation, the judge had ordered Couch not to drink or be around any alcoholic beverages. If it were proven that he was actually in the video, the judge would have cause to revoke his probation.
