Ben Carson told his staff and supporters Wednesday afternoon that he sees "no path forward" for his presidential bid and he will deliver a speech Friday to discuss the future of his campaign.
Carson said he will not take part in the Republican presidential debate in Detroit Thursday night and the donation page of his campaign website has been disabled.
Carson, who led in some Republican polls last summer, fell sharply after a poor debate performance and the rise of Donald Trump.
The retired neurosurgeon failed to escape from near the bottom of vote counts in Super Tuesday states.
