Hoax Alert: Arnold Schwarzenegger is NOT Dead Despite Reports Actor Was Terminated

Fact Check

  • by: Alan Duke

The latest death hoax story identified by Lead Stories' Trendolizer as trending on social networks involves actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story, published by several sites known for false reporting to gain your attention, is not true, we can happily report.

The story was posted in late August, but apparently picked up clicks, shares, tweets and views starting September 14, 2015 as people searched for Schwarzenegger content after Donald Trump told supporters at a presidential campaign rally in Dallas, Texas, that Arnold had been hired by NBC to replace him as host of Celebrity Apprentice next season.

"He'll be great & will raise a lot of $ for charity," Trump said.

Dead men don't tweet: Schwarzenegger also tweeted about his new job Monday. "I'm blown away and honored by all your tweets. I can't wait to bring my experience to the board room & raise millions for charity."

When our Trendolizer finds premature death reports going viral, we'll work to set the record straight. Scroll down to see the latest hoax reporting. But remember our motto: Just because it's trending doesn't mean it's true.
