Scarlett Johansson NOT To Star In Maya Angelou Biography

Fact Check

  • by: Lead Stories Staff

There is a trending HOAX story that has the internet abuzz stating "Scarlett Johansson to star in Maya Angelou biography." The NOT TRUE story is very similar to a HOAX story that Lead Stories debunked last month "Cameron Diaz NOT To Star As Maya Angelou In Biography." Although the story comes from a known satire site, some people actually believe the HOAX and continue to share it.

A brief excerpt from the story:

Scarlett Johansson has been announced as lead actress in a forthcoming biographic musical about African American author, poet, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou. Whitewash studios said they agreed with critics that Cameron Diaz, who was originally cast for the role, was just too white, and hoped that replacing Diaz with Johansson would remedy those complaints.

Scarlett Johansson has made no mention of the NOT TRUE story on her social media accounts, rather she's been promoting her movies and spreading general cheer to her fans:
