Fact Check: McDonald's Did NOT Remove American Flags In Support Of Antifa And BLM Rumor

Did McDonald's remove American flags in support of Antifa and Black Lives Matter? No, that's not true: The fast food company denied the claim in a statement to Lead Stories.

The claim appeared as a post (archived here) published by Facebook on Sept. 16, 2020. It read:

McDonald's removes their American flags in support of Antifa & BLM nationwide. #boycottMcDonalds

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

We reached out to McDonald's for comment. The company sent a statement, which read:

McDonald's unequivocally stands behind the need for equality and social justice, and these rumors are not true.

The post provided nothing in the way of links or evidence to substantiate the claim. In light of this fact, and the company's comment, we rate the post as false.
