Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Authentic Panic In Paris Over UFO, Object In River Film Shoot

Does footage show an authentic panic in Paris as people react to a UFO and an unidentified submerged object (USO) in the Seine River? No, that's not true: The video shows a film shoot. The footage is from the production of "Under Paris," a 2024 movie about a shark in the Seine.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X on January 16, 2025. The post included the video and read:

'Terrifying moments in Paris as people witnessed both a UFO in the sky and a USO emerging from the river! The unexpected sightings left many in shock and fear. What could this mean?

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The video in the post appeared on social media in September 2023, as can be seen here and in the screenshot below. It was posted alongside the emojis of a shark and a film reel. The 2023 post received more than 2 million likes.

Contrary to what the 2025 post claims on X, the video does not show an authentic panic in Paris as people react to a UFO and a USO. It's a film shoot from "Under Paris," the 2024 Netflix film about a giant shark.

You can watch the movie trailer here (archived here). The following screenshot was taken from a trailer. Although the point of view differs from the post on X, you can see the same red banners and blue tents in the film trailer as in the video post on X.
