Did a widely-shared video authentically show an argument on a bus after a Black man rested his feet on a white woman's wheelchair? No, that's not true: The clip was in fact a sketch, and showed actors following a script. The account that originally posted the video regularly produces fictional content with the stated aim of "starting conversations".
The video was presented as authentic in a May 27, 2025, post on X (archived here), along with the following text caption:
White people are waking up

In reality, this was a scripted scenario played out by actors.
The video was originally posted to TikTok on November 26, 2024. Kenyon Wellington, who originally posted it, describes his output as "Content with underlying messages to start convos." On Instagram, he calls himself a "viral video mogul."
Wellington, who plays the man resting his foot on the woman's wheelchair, can be seen playing various roles in many different scripted scenes on his TikTok account.

Similarly, the woman seen sitting in the wheelchair on the bus went on to feature in various other widely-shared sketches in 2025, including some debunked by Lead Stories.
